On the contrary of what has been written and taught to Fellow Collectors, this particular coaster is in fact,
Real and Original, from 1939, though created in 1938. There is much more that meets the eye when it comes to collecting, including that age old Greed and Manipulation. Mostly to suit the Author of a particular collector's guide. This here, is one of those stories, that has bothered me, all through the years of collecting. Proving beyond a shadow of doubt, that these books have been Manipulated. In this instance, it was a personal vendetta, between the Author and the Creator of this particular coaster. I'll not use any names, but briefly pass along the story, as told to me, first hand, by the World Redound, and Foremost Expert on New York World's Fair History. He was originally from New Jersey, as was the Creator of these coasters, and the Author of the Coca Cola guide. These men lived close by to each other, and have known each other for years. The Gent that produced this coaster, was an entrepreneur, and had created these coasters, in hopes to cash in by the New York World's Fair and Coca-Cola Reps. Needless to say, after presented to both Agencies, they turned them down. So, in the basement of a New Jersey home they remained. Until the 1980s, when Flooding had destroyed the majority of them. The Author of the Coca Cola guide, decided he wanted All coasters that were still good. But they couldn't come to terms, the Author got angry, and then upon the next edition, tells us Collectors, that these are worthless, and produced in the 1980s. NOT TRUE FOLKS, NOT TRUE! The only truth here, as with Many Old Coca-Cola Items, these weren't licensed, either by Coca Cola or the Fair. Other than that, Rest Assured, I'm here to say, They Are Real Pieces of History! I will be publishing more stories like this. Some of them are actually Sad Stories....... |

This coaster was NOT Made in the 1980s. It was made in 1938 for 1939. There are more False Statements made, in many of our collector's guides. Some of these will be shared. The Best Advice I can pass along, is Learn as much as you can, and Share that Education. Never keep it to yourself, and Never Manipulate to suit yourself. It Will Come Back Around Someday. Always think of History. History Determines Desirability in the long run.......... |
